I started with Diablo1+2 and EQ. Looked at WoW briefly, but couldn't get past the over-cartoony "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" look of the whole game (even EQ looked better at the time!). GW had dramatically better eye candy and excellent game play, so GW became my next poison. GW2 sounds very promising... new races (at last!), reduced class + skill bloat, etc. It will be a long wait...

I'll probaly get GW:EN and then hang it up.
Thinking about Age of Conan. Hopefully the 17+ rating will keep most of the kiddies out.

for all of yopu that want to tranfer character quit complaining, the GW2 story takes place centries later and then that would defet one of the reasons for making a seperate game the fact that they want a stedy lvl up not like in ch 2 and 3 were your lvl 20 in sec of new character.

I've played WoW, the 10-day trial that is. Made a Night-Elf Hunter. It's a nice game with it's own feel. The skinning, fishing, tailoring and all really adds to it. However, I'm still hooked to Guild Wars, and if GW2 will go the WoW-way, i won't mind

I tried and played WoW for a good while and the part I enjoyed most was the pvp servers while I can kill other players...PKing...hm
I'll stay with GW as it was a fairly enjoyable game that didn't feel like a job and still enabled me to play other games without losing the competitive edge that you'll need to make up for other games.
GW:EN here I come!!!
Hopefully my lil bro will get back into GW since he hated or found it boring since he's into traditional MMOs.
besides GW2 will combine the best aspects of the GW universe with the best parts of MMORPGs.

Well first of all, many people have complained about WoW looks, it was not meant to look good, but to have low requirements so for years even people with crap computers could play it. Next, I'm getting bored of both, and can only really stand consoles now. Recently I've lost a lot of my gamer attitude and I spend the weekends sitting there bored. So I may just say good bye, it was fun, and hang up on it all.

(im your next Ann Coulter in male form or Michael Savage) But if something does turn out wehn I still play I will be playing GW2 and whatever Battlefield is released.

I've been playing both for 2 years, and since GW2 will stay free-to-play, I'll continue playing both as well.
Honestly, this isn't like deciding if you want to purchase Car A or Car B. You can have both here. Your time is the only constraint, and while GW was visually, aesthetically and in some ways gameplay-wise very pleasing, it doesn't provide enough repeatable content for me to spend all my time on it.
I take long breaks from GW from time to time for that reason.
I'm enjoying TBC now and will likely come back here when GW:EN comes out.
Edit - If you look beyond GW vs WoW, there are promising games like Age of Conan, Warhammer:Age of Reckoning, Darkfall(if it ever gets done) on the horizon. Might want to try them out if you can't stand WoW and want a change from GW.
Edit 2:
@Syria - TBC launch was a good time to get back to WoW. Waiting for new servers isnt a great idea since they haven't even announced that they'll be doing it. If I were you, I'd roll on one of the original servers - high population(once you get past the lowbie areas), great community, stable economy etc

No, I won't. I think GW2 sounds awesome. True, it is shifting away from the ttraditional gw style of gameplay, but I need a change. I think GW2 sounds far superior to WoW, despite the similarities. I know I'll be buying GW2, and quite possible participate in the beta. The only thing I dislike about it so far is the inability to transfer characters, but if this "hall of monuments" thing allows you to port titles over then I may not mind as much

I agree with you. Guild Wars 2 sounds really awesome. I could care less if it sounds similar to WoW. Let WoW be WoW and GW be GW. From my honest opinion, I don't think any MMO will come close to WoW in terms of popularity and users any time soon. WoW is just a freak on a leash. Not to mention Burning Crusade even added more subscribers to WoW. No matter how many of you guys on this board hate WoW, there are millions of others out there worldwide that love this game to death. Personally, I don't like WoW. I've tried it and found it very boring.

This thread is alittle late, since the flood of players to WoW from Guild Wars has been going on for awhile now :\

They'll do it. I'm confidant Blizzard will cave in soon. It's been 2 months, and they are normally server-release happy.
I recently rolled an Orc Warlock on Emerald Dream, an RPPVP server. It may be one of the highest-pop servers. There are very few people in the early levels. It's too depressing. And no one RPs.
On a new server, atleast I'll have people to quest with and make myself somewhat known...

They never meant anything. It's just a game and if you waste too much time on it you don't care losing in the end... It's your loss. And GW will continue to exist after GW2. So you can always stay in GW, did that ever occur to any of you?

I've been thinking about repurchasing WoW to go play with my friends (who hate GW with a passion). I went to the official WoW forums today and what did I hear? Complaints? From dedicated Blizzard fanboys? Risking their accounts by voicing their opinions on the official WoW forums?
To give the game credit the complaints were directed to the new expansion and patch being ALL about grinding and not being fun like the original.
I haven't played the game since it was released and it might have improved, so try the game out if you wish.

Come on.My friend is ADDICTED TO WoW. Its really hurting his life. I think he actually gained more weight. Maybe because he has to PAY $15 a month he feels the need to play it every waking hour.I however have no need for that stress.(By the way there are FREE wow servers out there. But it's illegal.)
I will not try WoW for any reason unless something really needed is involved.
